After making several of these recipes with the choc. crust tart & enhanced choc. fillings- decision reached to use one or the other, not both.
And what the heck happened to my ganache?? It sounded simple, but there was a snafu (could it have been because I did not have enough bittersweet choc. & had to sub in the cocoa/oil mixture??) Yowser, just take a gander at this picture- butter & oil oozing everywhere- a relative gusher.....
Moving on to the banana mixture- did those directions really mean 1/8 inch slices? My lovely little diagonal banana pieces simply melted in the butter/sugar caramel- tasted fine though. So, yes, in they went on top of the "bonne idea" nutella coated tart (luv that darn stuff). Check.
Finally- this is a beautiful tart; best enjoyed in demurely sliced pieces & yes- do have that dollop of fresh whipped cream on top!

Were you able to save that chocolate? Your tart came out beautiful!! I made two small tarts and froze the rest of the dough and ganache. There will be another tart in our future!
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am- I just took the ganache off the side of the bowl away from the oil- it tastes pretty good! But I am sure, technically speaking, that I screwed something up! Thank you for your visit.
Deleteeven with the "mishaps" your tart looks lovely
ReplyDeleteWell your tart looks delicious even thought you had some issues!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your tart turned out well in the end. I'm with you on8th inch caramelized banana slices..turned to mush. I redid that part with thicker slices and all OK...but I did not like the flavor...a little bitter and I did not want that kind of bitter with my chocolate. Well, I know what changes I'll make. I did like parts of this tart...most of it.
ReplyDeleteHave not "seen" you for a while...your Double Chocolate and Banana Tart looks like it turned out wonderful in the end - I am sure that the addition of a bit of whipped cream when serving your tart added even a bit more decadence. Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Your tart looks amazing! I had the same issue with the bananas, so I just used them as a spread also!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that I cut my banana slices closer to 1/4" or larger - there was no way that 1/8" was going to happen.
ReplyDeleteGreat save :-)
It all turned out well in the end and looks beautiful. I went with the nutella and it worked out well.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much on bananas so putting them on top was enough for me. Have a great weekend.
Very impressive. Your tart looks wonderful. And so creative. I made the Nutella hazelnut version, and we liked it.
ReplyDeleteYour tart is beautiful, Bev. I think some whipped cream on top would just be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI agree - my caramelized bananas did not hold their shape at all so if I ever make it again they will definitely get sliced thicker. Sorry you had trouble with the ganache but everything turned out great! Your tart looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maggie- I can't find your blog to reply. Is there a ping back I can find? Cheers!
DeleteLooks like the end result turned out fine. My caramelized banana was total mush. The bananas didn't hold their shape at all, but it tasted really delicious (was my favorite part)! Glad you were able to save this.
